James Cameron In to Direct ‘Heavy Metal’

Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen), David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy) and Kevin Eastmen (pretty much anything Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles related) have all signed on to direct the new Heavy Metal movie. Well, James Cameron (Titanic) wants in on the action, too.

If you're unaware of what Heavy Metal is, believe me, it's a guy paradise. It started out as an erotic graphic magazine with some science-fiction and fantasy, and then in 1981 it was turned into an animated movie telling all sorts of different stories (kind of like Sin City and Watchmen were). It was more recently spoofed by South Park in the episode "Major Boobage".

Kevin Eastmen was the one who announced Cameron's directing to Film School Rejects; his exact words: "Fincher and James Cameron are going to be co-executive Producers on the film. Fincher will direct one. Cameron will direct one. Zack Snyder is going to direct one and Gore Verbinski is going to. Mark Osborne and Jack Black from Tenacious D are going to do a comedy segment for the film." He also went on to say that 3 more big-name directors will be cast on the Metal movie soon.

This thing looks sweet, I'll be sure to update you on any information that gets released.
