Tobey Maguire Goes Indie with ‘The Details’

Tobey Maguire is joining Elizabeth Banks, Ray Liotta, Dennis Haysbert, Anna Friel and Laura Linney in a dark independent comedy called The Details. The movie is about a depressed wedded couple who find raccoons under the grass in their backyard. That later leads to more issues, including murder. James McAvoy was originally set to play Maguire's character until a scheduling problem stopped his role in the movie. The Details is written and directed by Jacob Estes (Mean Creek, Nearing Grace) with Mark Gordon (Grey's Anatomy, Saving Private Ryan), Bryan Zuriff and Hagai Shaham (Mean Creek) producing and Mickey Liddell serving as executive producer.

"Maguire's character is an everyman in the sense that he is composed of a morally ambiguous core," says Estes. "He has good intentions, but he makes a lot of self-destructive mistakes."
