Official 'Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs' Teaser Trailer Released

The new teaser trailer for Sony Animations (not quite Pixar material, but better than Vanguard) Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs was just released! Hollywood seems to be obsessed with making movies off of books, and now they're moving onto kids' books. With the release of Spike Jonze's new film Where the Wild Things Are coming this fall, Cloudy is set to release sometime near there (the official release date is September 18). It stars Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Andy Samberg, Tracey Morgan, Bruce Campbell and, very weirdly, "Mr. T".
Sony Animations has had 3 hits during its career: Open Season, Monster House, and Surf's Up. They also are making a Smurfs movie sometime in 2010.
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is directed and written by Chris Miller and Phil Lord (wrote/produced a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother). No experience in movie-making besides the Scary Movie rip-off Extreme Movie.
In the trailer we see Flint (Hader) attempting to build a weather machine that turns water into food. It works, and him and his, I'm guessing, girlfriend Sam (Faris) enjoy it. Not a very complicated plot, and it has a giant chance at sucking (Space Chimps, anyone?). I love Bill Hader and Anna Faris, so I think Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs might be worth a watch. Besides, with whatever movie Hader decides to do, comes that SNL style of comedy vibe that he brought to Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Superbad. Another perfect example of his style of comedy can be seen in this Friday's Adventureland. Faris I've been waiting to do voiceover work since Just Friends, when I was sure her career wouldn't flop.
