Box Office Results-3/6-8/09

Well, no surprises here: Zack Snyder's graphic novel epic Watchmen opened at #1 at the box office this weekend with a whopping, but exceeding expectations, $55.2 million. It was a long wait, and fans finally got to see the anti-hero revolution on the big screen. But unlike director Snyder's previous box office hit 300, Watchmen was the sixth-highest grossing R-rated film, behind The Matrix: Reloaded and The Passion of the Christ. But still, despite bad reviews, Watchmen still won over America this first weekend of March 2009. Coming in at second place was previous weekend's #1 spot winner, Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail with $8 million. This is still Tyler Perry's highest-grossing move of all time. Total gross so far, $76 million, beating out both last year's Meet the Browns and The Family That Preys. At third, Liam Neeson just won't stay down as a former spy trying to save his kidnapped daughter with $7.3 million. In fourth place, the Oscar-award winning Slumdog Millionare continues to do well after taking home multiple Academy Awards this year, among them the coveted "Best Picture". And in fifth place, 2009's first blockbuster movie, Happy Madison's Paul Blart: Mall Cop. The Kevin James farce just keeps doing better and better, already raking in $133.6 million since it was released nearly 2 months ago. Here's the official top 10 box office results from March 6th-8, 2009, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com-
