There have been countless movies about the Holocaust, World War I, Hitler, Nazism, etc. But Will Smith and Overbrook Entertainment, according to Empire Online, are making a movie about Hurricane Katrina hero John Keller.

That's a national tragedy in which I can't recall any major Hollywood movie ever being made. The movie will follow the five days of ex-Marine Keller's struggle to save the 150 people in his building during the 2005 disaster. The Rookie's
John Lee Hancock will direct. Empire also mentioned that Smith, along with producing, might portray Keller as well.

John Keller, the hero himself, told New Orleans's The Times-Picayune via NOLA.com of his actions, "It sure wasn't for money, it wasn't for recognition. It wasn't to be no damn hero. What made me stay was the old people. I just realized that nobody else in here could have gotten those people out. They would have sat in here for five more days. And they didn't have five more days."

This could be the next United 93. And with Smith producing (and maybe starring), this looks to be a great movie. As Cinema Blend says, "In the right hands…this could be just the kind of uplifting tale we need right now."
